We have put together a shortlist of activities ranging from dining out to adventure - these activities have been grouped according to the area.

 

Out and About in the Southern Suburbs

  1. Street art tour in Woodstock
    For the longest time street art and murals did not receive the recognition they deserved but now street art, murals and galleries line the streets of Woodstock. Out and about in the Northern Suburbs

  1. Chocolate Bistro
    French opulence at its best, is the only way in which one can describe Chocolat Bistro. Upon stepping into this luxurious setting, you will easily be transported to France. They have magnificent pastries and cakes freshly baked daily - the perfect teatime accompaniment.     From wine tasting to fine dining D'Aria has it all. R50 will get you a wine tasting of 5 wines. These options include their white, red, and famous sparkling wines. They also produce a beautifully bottled Brandy and Gin that you simply have to try, and the best part is it doesn't cost you an arm and leg like most craft spirits. Out of experience, we recommend pairing their popular gin with the Woolworths Dry Lemon brand, and let us know what you think. Once your tasting is done you will be able to pop into one of 3 restaurants on the premises and they all promise to blow your socks off. The Terrace offers anything from wafer-thin pizza to sushi. Patina Steak and Wine promises to satisfy that steak craving and if snacks and cocktails are more your thing, then you are in luck - Botany Lounge is a space dedicated to luxe living and offers delicious cocktails along with tantalizing snack platters


     
  3. Kleine Hazen Putting Park
    Put-put is a family pastime that has survived the test of time. We all have fond memories of an afternoon's pot of put-put. You are now able to create new memories with friends and family members at Hazendal's put-put course. This manicured putting green offers 27 holes to try your skills on. This Park has been designed to suite all ages and is, therefore, the perfect family holiday activity. Interested in playing a round of put-put this holiday? It will then only cost you R80 for an adult and R60 for children up until the age of 12.


     
  4. Canto Wines
    Macarons and MCC is one of the best combinations imaginable and luckily for you - Canto has this marvelous combination on offer. Sweeten up your holiday with some bubbles and lip-smacking macarons for only R105. One is also able to enjoy the vast view with a scrumptious picnic starting from R180.


     
  5. Majik Forest
    Apart from the tranquil beauty that Majik forest has to offer, their paths that suit all walking skill levels allow for one to understand why this spot is such a fan favourite. Surrounded by lush plants and a lake, a brisk walk through the forest is bound to cause you to relax within no time. With a 2.6km loop trail available one can take your kids or pets along as well.

 

Out and about in the Winelands

  1. Taal Monument
    Each summer the Taal Monument in Paarl hosts their Full Moon Picnic. The entrance is R40 per person and you can take in your own picnics and drinks. Be sure to go when the gates open, to ensure that you can choose the best spot to watch that moon rise. The full moon picnic is lovely and offers a spin on the usual picnic that one is used to.


     
  2. KWV Wine Emporium
    With KWV Emporium being open 7 days a week, it means that this stop can be an impromptu activity. They have an array of experiences that promise to be insightful as well as delicious. Their tastings include - Wine tasting with a starting price of R65 per person and Brandy and Chocolate pairings (which is one of 4 different types of pairings) with a starting price of R95 per person. KWV also offer cellar tours and a brandy blending experience with the brandy master himself.


     

  3. Babylonstoren
    From fine dining to fresh produce Babylonstoren has a variety of pleasure-inducing activities. Vast landscaped gardens offer the perfect setting for a relaxing meander followed by a wine tasting or a delicious farm fresh lunch from one of the two restaurants on site. Babylonstoren also has stunning produce on offer for you to take home.


     

  4. Snoepie op die Stoepie
    Snoepie op die stoepie is a quant establishment that brings back fond memories of buying your favourite snack at the school tuckshop. This snoepie can be found at Eike in Stellenbosch and they have fabulous treats to choose from. Think correctly spiced samosas, koeksisters and an array of drinks.
