Live, Work & Play in Brackenfell

Category Local News

Nestled between the Winelands Mountains and Table Mountain, Brackenfell is a popular Northern Suburb of Cape Town. It offers the luxuries of a city, but has the heart of a rural town, making for a unique lifestyle.

This, together with its convenient location and friendly community, are the top reasons given by residents as to why they live in Brackenfell. After the daily toil, it offers a true haven to return to. In addition to the relaxed lifestyle, comes many options of city living too, with quality entertainment, excellent hospitals, big shopping centres and top restaurants close by.

Living

Brackenfell property offers excellent value for money and is a great place to raise children. People are down to earth and greet one another when passing in the street.

Erna Sciocatti, owner and principal agent of RED Properties found that most buyers prefer to just upgrade and not leave the area.

"That means that local marketing is extremely effective. Young people will upgrade from renting to buying their first apartment or townhouse. When the first or second baby is on the way, things like a bigger yard becomes important. Later moving closer to one of the primary or high schools becomes a priority, as well as the extra living space to accommodate the teenage get-togethers.

Then there comes a time for us all when you need a smaller home with less work and smaller garden. Brackenfell offers several top retirement establishments, including the popular Paradys Park, Klaradyn and Othello Retirement Villages.

The investment market is strong and many (residents and non-residents alike) invest in rental properties, to help provide a passive income for their retirement."

RED Properties has served the Brackenfell community for years and over this time, followed the incredible growth indicated by building of exclusive gated estates, large freestanding homes, charming townhouses and contemporary apartments. With this economic growth, there is an influx of highly skilled and professional individuals, making Brackenfell very attractive for upmarket living.

Working

Brackenfell is the ideal choice if one partner works in the city and the other in Stellenbosch or Paarl regions.  Stellenbosch University is only 17 km away, and many students choose to study from home.  Quality business parks and warehousing options are available, and consequently, many Brackenfell residents are entrepreneurs managing their own businesses.  Large corporate retail groups also located either their headquarters or distribution centres in Brackenfell.

Working from home is also a popular choice in the area. With excellent fibre connection available, working online while the kids are watching Netflix, playing online games or even doing online homework (one can only hope), is a breeze.

Playing

Early morning and evening you will find residents walking, running or cycling for their daily exercise, or taking their dogs for a walk in one of the many well-kept parks. With several sports clubs, gyms, the indoor Action Sports Arena and Run/Walk for Life Campaigns, an active lifestyle blends beautifully with the social community programs where people care for one another and spend time together.

For the less energetically inclined, the Stellenbosch Wine Route with many farms, restaurants and wine tastings to choose from is a stone's throw away. As are nurseries for those with green fingers. All the other amenities Cape Town is famous for are also easily accessible: a day at any of the numerous beaches, taking a scenic route around Cape Point, climbing Table Mountain or choosing to picnic at Kirstenbosch Gardens while listening to one of the popular Sunday concerts.

When Erna from RED Properties was asked why she personally lives in Brackenfell, she said: "We moved to Brackenfell 23 years ago, thinking that it will only be for a few years. Here we still are. I love the slower lifestyle, with all the city luxuries close by, but without the rush and noise in my neighbourhood. In Brackenfell, we focus on the important stuff; like our people. We can choose to braai with family and friends, go to Imax or the fancy VIP movies, shop in beautiful shopping malls, enjoy a wine tour or having a picnic in our own garden. Indeed, life is good in Brackenfell."
